About Northcrest Developments
From inception, this team of professionals has been working non-stop to deliver exceptional and innovative master-planned communities. Northcrest Developments is an award-winning real estate developer based in Toronto.
Established in 2018, this team was built to lead the planning and development of the Downsview Airport Lands by the site's owner, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments). As one of Canada's largest pension investment managers, PSP Investments manages funds for the pension plans of the federal Public Service, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Reserve Force.
This developer has proved to be a dynamic team of high-performing, multi disciplined professionals with various backgrounds. Some of their team members possess expertise in city planning, engineering, real estate, politics, public sector, media, arts, and so much more.
This new agency has taken on massive projects around the Toronto area, intending to shape the future of the city's communities. As an engineering company, Northcrest plants work closely with residents and communities as well as public, non-profit and private interests. Their goals also include ensuring the development of the Downsview lands to become a model for how to create sustainable, resilient, vibrant, healthy communities while contributing to neighbourhoods and the GTA as a whole.
One of Northcrest's most significant projects is leading the redevelopment of the 370-acre Downsview Airport Lands in Toronto's North York region. PSP Investments bought the 370-acre site from Bombardier Aerospace, which is moving to Pearson Airport at the end of 2023. To execute this extensive redevelopment, Northcrest understands the importance of community engagement and creating a community where everyone can thrive. Northcrest prides itself on working with community members, rights-holders, industry and non-profit interests.
Track Record, Vision & Craftsmanship
They're built differently. Northcrest Developments is enhancing the long-term value of the Downsview Airport Lands by creating a widely recognized mixed-master-planned community in the heart of one of the fastest-growing cities in North America. These developers are focused on creating one of Toronto's hottest, vibrant communities, encouraging employment, public space and innovation.
Over the next three decades, the 370-acre site will transform into a series of pedestrian-friendly, low-carbon condominium and townhome communities, complete with a thriving employment hub, transit-oriented amenities, acres of parks and open space anchored by one of Canada's largest urban parks.
"We believe that development can and should create positive outcomes for the communities and environment in which it takes place. We are taking action in climate, equity, and reconciliation to ensure these lands are developed responsibly."
Northcrest Developments has several projects in the works. One of them includes the Taxiway West Master-Planned Community. This will comprise 2,850 new residential condominium and townhouse units at 123 Garratt Boulevard in Toronto. The community plans to create vibrant living spaces for 4,940 people and bring 7,550 new jobs to the area amidst this development covering over 300 acres of space.
Although this team has recently hit the real estate industry, their works are garnering world-wide attention. Their most recent award is the World Architecture Festival WAFX 2022 award for the Downsview Framework Plan. With several projects underway, we expect Northcrest Developments to continue gaining lightning speed momentum and delivering on their promise of excellence.
