A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN CONTEXT

Start with how
you spend your day.

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, Central is a fairly good option. Central is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although there are still several louder sections, especially close to Highway 401 or the railway line. On the other hand, green spaces, including Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens and Knights of Columbus Park, are especially well-spread out and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, resulting in them being very easy to reach from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood. Lastly, even though the ambience is not the most lively in this area, its main streets can still be quite energetic, and finding one of the a few nightlife venues is very easy as they are generally situated in very convenient locations.

Getting around

A majority of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are fairly convenient for pedestrians; most day-to-day needs are easy to meet without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. This neighbourhood is also rather bicycling-friendly since the cycling infrastructure is good. The public transit in Central is not particularly practical. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. On the other hand, Central is reasonably car friendly. It is convenient to park, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Highway 401, from any home in this area.

Everyday essentials

It is generally feasible for property owners in this part of the city to buy their groceries on foot. Additionally, Central is a good place in which to go out to eat or go to a cafe. Residents have access to a fair number of nearby clothing stores. Regarding education, daycares and schools are straightforward to access as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in Central.

Local character

Central is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although there are still several louder sections, especially close to Highway 401 or the railway line. Lastly, even though the ambience is not the most lively in this area, its main streets can still be quite energetic, and finding one of the a few nightlife venues is very easy as they are generally situated in very convenient locations.

Surrounding homes

In Central, around 40% of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. The population residing in this area is evenly split between owners and renters. The homes in this neighbourhood are very old, because the majority of its dwellings were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you
call it home.

What do the location scores measure?

Local Logic supplies individual access and character scores on a 0–5 scale for the recorded coordinates. Consider each measure separately; we do not calculate an overall livability rating.

Are the distances walking times?

No. Distances are straight-line measurements from the project reference. Open directions to check a walking, cycling, transit or driving route.

Does a nearby school guarantee admission?

No. Confirm attendance boundaries, programs, capacity and registration requirements with the relevant school board.

Do the demographic figures describe future residents?

No. They describe the existing population in the provider’s surrounding study area. They do not predict the buyers or future residents of this project.

SOURCES & METHODOLOGY

A guide with a clear point of reference.

Prepared by Team Arora. Scores, neighbourhood descriptions, school records, places and demographic information are supplied by Local Logic. Requests are cached for up to 24 hours; underlying source periods may be older. Provider neighbourhood labels may differ from builder descriptions. Missing data remains unavailable.

Recorded coordinates: 43.8982113, -78.85971479999999. Amenity queries use a 2.5 km radius; school results retain the provider’s school-search coverage. Distances use the returned straight-line measurement, or are calculated directly between coordinates when absent. The project page includes the existing map; Google provides the linked directions. Verify current place details, boundaries and routes before making a decision.
