This part of Whitby will appeal to house buyers who want to live in a compact area because it is fairly walkable; running common errands is easy without the use of a car. On the other hand, biking is occasionally difficult in Downtown Whitby as there are a good number of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. The best method of transportation in this part of the town is usually a car. It is convenient to park, and most houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401. However, this part of the town is not particularly transit friendly. Thankfully, homeowners can depend on the Whitby on the Lakeshore East. House owners have access to about 10 bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop.

The nearest supermarket in Downtown Whitby is typically only a reasonably short walk away. Furthermore, there is generally a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.
