A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN CONTEXT

Start with how
you spend your day.

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, Kensington-Chinatown is a reasonably good option. Kensington-Chinatown is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. There is not that much greenery in this neighbourhood; to be more precise, residents will find that there are relatively few tree-lined streets. Nonetheless, green spaces, such as Trinity Bellwoods Park and Queen's Park, are especially well-distributed and there are over 100 of them nearby for residents to explore, making it very easy to access them. Lastly, there are a very large number of things to do in this neighbourhood for those looking for a dynamic vibe. The streets are almost always busy with people, numerous entertainment venues can be found nearby, and finding one of the over 50 bars is very easy since they are generally situated in especially convenient locations.

Getting around

Homeowners in Kensington-Chinatown are presented with several choices to travel without using a car. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are especially convenient for pedestrians; most day-to-day needs can be met without a car, and there are also a very large number of businesses in proximity. Kensington-Chinatown is also a very pleasant part of Toronto for cyclists. In particular, Kensington-Chinatown is home to fairly good bicycling infrastructure, and bike-share stations are seldomly more than a short distance away. With plenty of nearby rapid transit stations on the Line 1 (Yonge-University), and about 20 nearby bus lines, the great transit system makes transit a viable option for many. However, Kensington-Chinatown is not an especially convenient part of Toronto for travelling by car. Nevertheless, the majority of houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway.

Everyday essentials

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short stroll away in this part of Toronto. Baldwin Street is among the best streets for food stores. Likewise, there are over 600 restaurants and over 100 cafes to enjoy in Kensington-Chinatown. It is also especially convenient to access a number of clothing stores as a pedestrian, for instance on Queen Street. When it comes to education, parents and their kids will find that no matter where their home is located in Kensington-Chinatown, schools and daycares are nearby.

In this neighbourhood, about 60% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Around 30% of properties in this part of the city were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you
call it home.

What do the location scores measure?

Local Logic supplies individual access and character scores on a 0–5 scale for the recorded coordinates. Consider each measure separately; we do not calculate an overall livability rating.

Are the distances walking times?

No. Distances are straight-line measurements from the project reference. Open directions to check a walking, cycling, transit or driving route.

Does a nearby school guarantee admission?

No. Confirm attendance boundaries, programs, capacity and registration requirements with the relevant school board.

Do the demographic figures describe future residents?

No. They describe the existing population in the provider’s surrounding study area. They do not predict the buyers or future residents of this project.

SOURCES & METHODOLOGY

A guide with a clear point of reference.

Prepared by Team Arora. Scores, neighbourhood descriptions, school records, places and demographic information are supplied by Local Logic. Requests are cached for up to 24 hours; underlying source periods may be older. Provider neighbourhood labels may differ from builder descriptions. Missing data remains unavailable.

Recorded coordinates: 43.6518297, -79.4019316. Amenity queries use a 2.5 km radius; school results retain the provider’s school-search coverage. Distances use the returned straight-line measurement, or are calculated directly between coordinates when absent. The project page includes the existing map; Google provides the linked directions. Verify current place details, boundaries and routes before making a decision.
