Getting around

Town Centre enables property owners to travel using various modes of transportation. This area benefits from a reasonably good transit network as a result of Pickering with access to the Lakeshore East, and about 10 nearby bus lines. This part of the city will also attract people who want to live in an area that's walkable as it is reasonably suitable for pedestrians; meeting daily needs is convenient without a car, and numerous businesses are close at hand. Even though biking is more feasible in some sectors than others, biking is at times difficult in this area because there are a good number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and there are a limited number of bike lanes.

Everyday essentials

It is very often an option for house buyers in this part of Pickering to do their grocery shopping by foot. Furthermore, there are a fair number of choices for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a rather short stroll to a reasonable choice of clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, primary schools and daycares are straightforward to get to as a pedestrian from any location in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, this part of the city does not have any high schools.

Local character

Town Centre is unique in that it has both vibrant and quiet areas, making it appealing to more people. Although the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this part of Pickering, its busier streets can still be quite energetic, and with its a few bars, there are options for nighttime activities. At the same time, this area is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although there are still several noisier sections, especially near the railway line or Highway 401. Access to public green spaces in the neighbourhood, like David Farr Park and Brock Ridge Community Park, is very difficult since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are around 20 parks nearby for residents to explore.

Surrounding homes

In Town Centre, the majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 30% are renters. The homes in this part of Pickering are relatively new, since about 30% of its dwellings were constructed in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
