The entirety of the project is the redevelopment of the Sisters of the Visitation lands. The redevelopment includes the introduction of new residential, commercial and institutional uses as well as the repurposing and reuse of the existing Monastery, or portion thereof. The project is consistent with Provincial Policy established through the Planning Act of Ontario as well as the vision of the City of Ottawa Official Plan. Both of these documents ask that Municipalities more fully utilize lands within its boundaries so that expenditures on infrastructure (i.e. roads, sewers, utilities, recreational facilities, etc) are better utilized. The entire development is approved for approximately 675,000 square feet of residential, institutional, commercial and community uses. The project is to be developed in three Phases. Phase One was the development of the existing 9 storey condominium building. The new building includes 294 residential suites and 23,015 square feet of commercial space. The commercial space has been slow to lease, but we are pleased to announce the leasing of 600 square feet to Blue Panda Realty. To help animate the street Ashcroft has donated free commercial space along Richmond Road to a local artist. Transportation

Westboro presents home buyers with the choice between a diversity of modes of transportation. The public transit service in Westboro is very convenient. In particular, rapid transit stations, including Dominion 1a (a), chemin d'AYLMER/SAMUEL-DE-CHAMPLAIN and Scott / Island Park on the Pré Tunney and Rapibus 800, are not very far from the bulk of properties in the neighbourhood. There are over 50 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are typically very close by. Getting around as a pedestrian is also reasonably convenient for residents in Westboro; running day-to-day errands is easy without the need for a car, and plenty of businesses are rather close at hand. Physically active property owners will enjoy the very cycling-friendly nature of this area. In particular, Westboro has fairly good bicycling infrastructure.

Services

The nearest supermarket in this part of Ottawa is generally only a short trip away. In addition, those who are fond of dining in restaurants or cafes will have a fair number of choices in Westboro. It is also a reasonably short trip to a decent selection of clothing stores. Regarding education, families will value that wherever their house is situated in this part of the city, schools and daycares are close by.

However, it is very easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are around 40 of them nearby for residents to check out. Lastly, even though the ambience is not the most lively in this part of the city, its main streets are still quite lively, and with its a few nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.
