A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN CONTEXT

Start with how
you spend your day.

Central has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Even though this area is not known for its lively atmosphere, its main streets are still quite energetic, and finding one of the approximately 10 nightlife venues is very easy because they are generally situated in very convenient locations. King Street in particular offers a great variety of places to go out at night. Most areas in Central are reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although there are still several noisier sections, especially near the airport (Kitchener-Waterloo (Grand River Hospital) Heliport) or the railway line. It is easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to explore.

Getting around

Central affords homeowners several alternative modes of transportation. Thanks to a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the ION Light Rail, and around 10 nearby bus lines, Central is reasonably transit friendly. Traveling by foot is also rather practical for house buyers in this area; meeting daily needs is convenient without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. A good number of people in the area use their bicycle because the bicycling network is extensive.

Everyday essentials

It is straightforward to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store by foot from any location in Central. Likewise, thanks to 100-odd restaurants and cafes in this neighbourhood, there is usually a place to get a meal or beverage just around the corner, for example on King Street. It is also very easy to reach a number of clothing stores without the use of a car. As far as education is concerned, parents and their kids will value the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, homes for sale in Central.

It is easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to explore.

Surrounding homes

Roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder. About half of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this area, while small apartment buildings and single detached homes are the main alternatives in the housing stock. The buildings in this part of the city are relatively new, since around 40% of its dwellings were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you
call it home.

What do the location scores measure?

Local Logic supplies individual access and character scores on a 0–5 scale for the recorded coordinates. Consider each measure separately; we do not calculate an overall livability rating.

Are the distances walking times?

No. Distances are straight-line measurements from the project reference. Open directions to check a walking, cycling, transit or driving route.

Does a nearby school guarantee admission?

No. Confirm attendance boundaries, programs, capacity and registration requirements with the relevant school board.

Do the demographic figures describe future residents?

No. They describe the existing population in the provider’s surrounding study area. They do not predict the buyers or future residents of this project.

SOURCES & METHODOLOGY

A guide with a clear point of reference.

Prepared by Team Arora. Scores, neighbourhood descriptions, school records, places and demographic information are supplied by Local Logic. Requests are cached for up to 24 hours; underlying source periods may be older. Provider neighbourhood labels may differ from builder descriptions. Missing data remains unavailable.

Recorded coordinates: 43.4602267, -80.5091626. Amenity queries use a 2.5 km radius; school results retain the provider’s school-search coverage. Distances use the returned straight-line measurement, or are calculated directly between coordinates when absent. The project page includes the existing map; Google provides the linked directions. Verify current place details, boundaries and routes before making a decision.
