A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN CONTEXT

Start with how
you spend your day.

City Centre offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Although this neighbourhood is not known for its vibrancy, the vibe is still quite energetic around its busier streets, and places to go out at night are well-spread throughout the neighbourhood. At the same time, this part of Pickering is fairly good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are quite tranquil, however noise can be problematic closer to one of the railway lines or Highway 401. It is very hard to access parks from numerous locations within the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Despite that, there are about 20 parks close by for residents to unwind in.

Getting around

This area will attract house buyers that appreciate various methods of transportation. Traveling as a pedestrian is moderately practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood; running day-to-day errands is convenient without needing to get in a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Even though cycling is better in certain sectors than others, commuting by bicycle is at times difficult in this area as the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists. With Pickering with access to the Lakeshore East, and around 10 nearby bus lines, the good transit system allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car. The favoured method to navigate City Centre is very often a car. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and most properties for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401.

Everyday essentials

The closest supermarket in City Centre is usually only a short stroll away. Furthermore, there are a good number of choices for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short trip to a decent variety of clothing stores. Regarding education, in City Centre, parents and their children will generally be able to access daycares and primary schools without needing a car. However, City Centre does not have any high schools.

Surrounding homes

In City Centre, about two thirds of dwellings are large apartment buildings, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. This part of Pickering did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in this neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you
call it home.

What do the location scores measure?

Local Logic supplies individual access and character scores on a 0–5 scale for the recorded coordinates. Consider each measure separately; we do not calculate an overall livability rating.

Are the distances walking times?

No. Distances are straight-line measurements from the project reference. Open directions to check a walking, cycling, transit or driving route.

Does a nearby school guarantee admission?

No. Confirm attendance boundaries, programs, capacity and registration requirements with the relevant school board.

Do the demographic figures describe future residents?

No. They describe the existing population in the provider’s surrounding study area. They do not predict the buyers or future residents of this project.

SOURCES & METHODOLOGY

A guide with a clear point of reference.

Prepared by Team Arora. Scores, neighbourhood descriptions, school records, places and demographic information are supplied by Local Logic. Requests are cached for up to 24 hours; underlying source periods may be older. Provider neighbourhood labels may differ from builder descriptions. Missing data remains unavailable.

Recorded coordinates: 43.83717130000001, -79.0916007. Amenity queries use a 2.5 km radius; school results retain the provider’s school-search coverage. Distances use the returned straight-line measurement, or are calculated directly between coordinates when absent. The project page includes the existing map; Google provides the linked directions. Verify current place details, boundaries and routes before making a decision.
