Transportation
This area will attract house buyers that appreciate various methods of transportation. Traveling as a pedestrian is moderately practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood; running day-to-day errands is convenient without needing to get in a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Even though cycling is better in certain sectors than others, commuting by bicycle is at times difficult in this area as the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists. With Pickering with access to the Lakeshore East, and around 10 nearby bus lines, the good transit system allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car. The favoured method to navigate City Centre is very often a car. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and most properties for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401.
Services
The closest supermarket in City Centre is usually only a short stroll away. Furthermore, there are a good number of choices for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short trip to a decent variety of clothing stores. Regarding education, in City Centre, parents and their children will generally be able to access daycares and primary schools without needing a car. However, City Centre does not have any high schools.
Character
City Centre offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Although this neighbourhood is not known for its vibrancy, the vibe is still quite energetic around its busier streets, and places to go out at night are well-spread throughout the neighbourhood. At the same time, this part of Pickering is fairly good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are quite tranquil, however noise can be problematic closer to one of the railway lines or Highway 401. It is very hard to access parks from numerous locations within the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Despite that, there are about 20 parks close by for residents to unwind in.
