Transportation

Driving is very often the preferred approach to navigate Whatcom. It is a rather short car ride to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any home in Whatcom, and accessing a place to park is generally easy. However, the public transit service in Whatcom is not very convenient. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Bicycling is sometimes difficult in Whatcom because there are few bike lanes, and riding is rendered arduous by the often steep terrain. This area is also not very well-suited for people who prefer to travel on foot as running day-to-day errands is occasionally challenging without a vehicle.

Families will find that wherever their property is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and schools are nearby. With regards to food, it is easy to access the closest grocery store as a pedestrian in Whatcom. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes.

This part of the city is also very quiet, as the streets are usually especially tranquil.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most buildings in Whatcom, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. The homes in this area are very modern, because roughly 40% of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
